Halloween day hike to Aspen Lake

Susan and I and four dogs had a wonderful afternoon hike to Aspen Lake. Colors are still vibrant.

Grasses grew SO tall with the cool wet summer

This is the mom. Notice the cryptic coloring on her back and how it mimics the licens on the rocks around her. In the winter she will be pure white to blend in with the snow.

These are the young. We counted five or six of them.

Maple Pass Hike

This hike, starting at Rainy Pass on Highway 20 is a local favorite.

We did the loop clockwise.

That's the North Cascades Highway way down below us.

The last of the switchbacks behind us.
